A Cozy Place of Safety

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
A Cozy Place of Safety.

I use each of those words on purpose.

Last night my son came to my room over 4 times because he needed me. Our children come to our room for various reasons, sometimes when they are sick, when they are scared or when they have had a bad dream. I am not sure why he came last night, but he knew where to go to get love and comfort. I finally fixed him a little bed next to mine on the floor and he went right to sleep, he felt safe and at peace.

My mind went to the many times I have snuggled up to my Heavenly Father for a variety of reasons, an uncertain future, an unexpected bill or repair we had no money for, a hurting heart or a burden I could not bear alone. I have never doubted the fact that no matter what time I go seeking Him, He WILL be there. He doesn't yell, push me away or say "Come back later, I'm busy." He ALWAYS let's me snuggle up to Him, pour out my heart and rest in His Cozy Place of Safety.

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

  2. My kids came into my room last night too. One is 21 and the other is 16. I was on the bed studying my lessons and they both climbed up in bed with me. They used to sleep on either side of the bed (when they were little). They find peace and comfort there. I love it when they want to spend time with me...it only lasts a moment. Don't you know that God gets that same feeling we do when His children seek Him out!?

  3. Great picture for this verse. Children are so trusting that their parents can fix anything. How much should we have in our Heavenly Father.

  4. Beautiful! Even at 27 I sometimes still desire that closeness of being asleep in the same room as my parents!

  6. So sweet! Don't you just love it when you can comfort your little ones? It's so easy for us and so needed for them. Such a picture of us with the Lord. All they want is to be close to us ...

  8. This post is just beautiful! I love being able to be a parent to my children and relate that to how God is a Father to me. Just how our children feel secure in us, that is how we should feel in our Lord Jesus Christ! I LOVE your blog btw.

  9. Hi Crystal, SO GLAD to meet you! = )

This is beautiful...and this verse was one the Lord gave me when Gracie was only a few weeks old and I had to have her sleep in her car seat because she had reflux...I was so worried she would die in her sleep. So I was up most nights just waking minute by minute to see that she was alright. As the Lord is our "silver smith" he NEVER takes His eyes off of us!!!

Thanks, my friend, for a wonderful visual!

    Much love,
    Cheryl

  10. So precious! I remember nights when my girls were younger and a thunderstorm would come up; we'd make them a pallet on the floor next to our bed.

Thank God for the peace and safety He offers!

  11. I wrote a very similar post earlier this week about how my son always asks me to "stay in here" when I tuck him in at night and how God always stays with us...no matter what.

    :-)

Wonderful words & scripture today! Thanks for sharing (even if I'm a day late reading!)
